SMART Goals

In Iquest we have learned a lot about goals. We have learned about how to set smart goals. Setting smart goals is really important, without smart goals we will never be able to achieve a goal.
One important aspect of setting that they are Specific. A specific goal is important because a goal being specific allows us to have a plan. A goal being specific also makes it more attainable in our minds.
Another important aspect of a goal is that it’s measurable a goal being measurable. By being measurabe the goal has to be attainable and you have to be able to know when the goal is achieved. for example the goal of graduating college. Graduating college is something we will know when we attain it.
Be sure that the goal you are making is attainable. If the goal you are trying to achieve is not attainable you will never achieve it. Having attainable goals can be encouraging because achieving our goals feels good.
Your goal also has to be realistic. A realistic goal is not limiting yourself and having goal you are willing to work towards. Limiting yourself in goal setting is a quick way to self destruct your goals and dreams. By limiting ourselves we exclude the unexpected. If we decide a path that we want to take and we decide that that is the only path we are going to take we exclude an unlimited amount of possibilities. For example: say that you are an athlete who’s dream school is Stanford, and because your dream school is Stanford you turn down an amazing full ride scholarship to Berkley; then you aren't accepted by Stanford. now you are out of luck you turned down a scholarship because your dreams were so set none path that you ignored all other options.

Lastly a smart goal must be timely. If we set a goal but have no specific time frame of getting it done we will never get it done.

  1. You show an understanding of SMART goals in your blog, but the blog prompt was two-fold. You also were asked to write 3 SMART goals of your own. Be sure prior to posting a blog that you re-read the prompt to assure you have written a complete blog entry.
